The Dom Pérignon Rosé 2010 has just arrived and it is, by any measure, one of the finest rosé Champagnes you can put in a cellar.
The 2010 vintage gave Dom Pérignon Pinot Noir of extraordinary quality and intensity — 56% from the grands crus of Aÿ and Bouzy, bringing structure, depth and that signature strawberry precision, to 44% Chardonnay for balance and finesse. Only 11% still red was used, compared to 24% in 2004 – the last vintage that Jancis Robinson also awarded 19/20. She is full of praise for the 2010, calling it "stunning... rich and complex... if grand cru rosé Burgundy existed, this is what it would taste like." James Suckling gives it 99 points, a joint highest score for the cuvée, alongside the legends from 2008 and 2002. Even by Dom Pérignon’s high standards, this is a compelling release.
Bravo indeed. It will drink magnificently until 2040, making it one of the most age-worthy rosé Champagnes available at any price. At £740 per case of three, it is Dom Pérignon at its most compelling.
