For centuries, successive owners have produced wines at Château Clinet, one of the oldest vineyards in Pomerol. The estate lies about 40 km east of Bordeaux on the right bank of the Garonne River, on one of the highest points of the Pomerol plateau. Its gravelly clay soils are particularly well suited to Merlot, which accounts for around 80% of the vineyard plantings.
Since 1998 the estate has been owned by the Laborde family. Ronan Laborde took over management in 2004 and has overseen significant changes, including vineyard replanting, improvements in environmental practices and modernisation of the winery.
Alongside the estate’s flagship wine, Château Clinet, Ronan created the Ronan by Clinet range to offer a more accessible expression of Bordeaux. The original red is made from Merlot sourced from selected growers in nearby appellations such as Côtes de Castillon, Côtes de Bourg, Lussac-Saint-Émilion and Bordeaux. More recently, the lineup has expanded to include Ronan by Clinet Bordeaux Blanc — a fresh, fruit-driven white that brings the same attention to detail and modern approach to a crisp Bordeaux style.
