Bollinger's PN series began in 2020 with a single idea: showcase Pinot Noir from one village, make a blanc de noirs of absolute precision, and let the place speak for itself. This new release, the PN AYC21, focusses on Aÿ - the grand cru village at the heart of Bollinger's world - and the 2021 vintage has bestowed upon it real tension and verve in the glass. A classy Champagne in every sense, and one that every aficionado of the maison should tuck away in their cellar.

2021 was cool and exacting, giving the wine a tautness and nervous energy that makes it as interesting to cellar as it is to drink now. Red apple, chalky mineral grip, and that unmistakable Bollinger richness held in tension rather than released, Anne Krebiehl MW opened her note with "Oh wow" and concluded that it "fits seamlessly into Bollinger's extraordinary series of special releases" - hard to argue against such a glowing recommendation.

This is a serious collector's release: one of those bottles that rewards patience and looks increasingly right with each year it sits in the cellar. For a lucky few, we also have a small selection of magnums available. Act quickly — they won't last.
