The elusive Le Petit Cheval Blanc is Château Cheval Blanc’s Sauvignon Blanc dominant blend. We couldn’t agree more with Lisa Perrotti-Brown who commented on the 2018 “Put aside all your preconceptions of "Bordeaux Blanc" and don't even try to compare it to Pessac-Leognan. This has its own gorgeous expression of these grapes, defying regional tradition. Give yourself over to the rich decadence of this flamboyant white that is at once without peers, but is also quintessentially Cheval Blanc.”
About 1000 cases are produced on average, with the first vintage being 2013 (though it wasn’t released due to the difficulties that year, it was an excellent learning curve). 2014 was the first commercial vintage. Getting hold of any on release is an opportunity offered to few. Finding this when mature is a thankless task and with many years of development ahead. By the time this reaches full maturity it might be rather difficult to track down, and more expensive. Bar one very cheap case of 2016, the other prices for 2016, 2015 and 2014 are all over £425 per 3 (mostly over £450). Well worth snapping up now!
